Welcome to the Nature of Cities Festival 2024! A gathering to get inspired, to learn, to present, collaborate, or to meet hundreds of new best friends and urban nature co-conspirators. The Berlin segment is an all-inclusive multi-day experience featuring field-trips, in person talks, workshops, art interventions, a film festival, Farm-to-Table dinners, various opportunities for socializing, and much more. All of it takes place at the Atelier Gardens venue, and various other locations around Berlin.

In this session, we will zoom in and out on new questions of justice in/with/for urban nature-based solutions, with speakers coming from different analytical perspectives, methodological approaches, and geographical locations. The discussants will bring in new questions and unexplored ‘areas of justice’ and we will invite the audience to add to these questions in break-out group discussions. As an output, we collectively develop an agenda of new questions and ideas to push the bounds of just urban NBS.
This session explores what nature-people connections for NBS governance- mean in practice. Invited discussants present a dominant perspective on how people-nature relationships are understood or portrayed in a specific area of NBS research. During these sessions, we will work with the audience to interrupt these dominant understandings through interactive story-telling, where anecdotes, debates and questions intervene in and disrupt narratives. We will collectively come up with new questions to open up the inquiry and create new tangible action pathways for reconfiguring people-nature relationships in cities.
