Welcome to the Nature of Cities Festival 2024! A gathering to get inspired, to learn, to present, collaborate, or to meet hundreds of new best friends and urban nature co-conspirators. The Berlin segment is an all-inclusive multi-day experience featuring field-trips, in person talks, workshops, art interventions, a film festival, Farm-to-Table dinners, various opportunities for socializing, and much more. All of it takes place at the Atelier Gardens venue, and various other locations around Berlin.

Mandar Apte

Mandar currently manages Cities4Peace a strategic consultancy that promotes peace in cities and communities across the world worldwide. He has recently written an ORF thought leadership blog on leveraging India's soft power in promoting conflict resolution and peacebuilding, based on case studies of his pioneering efforts in collaboration with Los Angeles PD to reduce gang violence and with UN Peacekeeping Mission in Cyprus to enable harmonious coexistence between Turkish and Greek Cypriots are noteworthy. 

Based on the impact made, Mandar has recently been appointed by the UN Peacebuilding Office as an advisor to the special UN project on "Private Sector Investments for Youth-Led Peacebuilding".


Mandar is a former Visiting Scholar from George Mason University. He has also Produced & Directed From India With Love - a documentary film that promotes the message of nonviolence in the world. He is also the Founder & Director of the World Summit for Countering Violence & Extremism that brings together law enforcement and peace activists to design solutions to promote peace, nonviolence and compassion.

Mandar has a BS (Chem Engg) from Univ of Mumbai (India) and an MS (Petroleum Engineering) from Univ of Tulsa (USA). Mandar has worked at Shell for nearly two decades and in his last role founded and managed Shell's Gamechanger social innovation program. For more about his work; visit his website.
