I am an ecologist, interested in the functioning and evolution of urban socio-ecosystems. A field ecologist at the core, I study plants and insects in cities and the link between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning. Recently, I started working with citizens to monitor butterfly biodiversity and gage how urban green space policies can affect biodiversity as well as our health and well being. I love to talk about the beautiful grassland ecosystems that I have had the chance to study both in cities and in natural landscapes around the world.
As a scientist used to working on fundamental and theoretical questions, during this festival I hope to learn more about the applied and social side of things. I want to hear what urban planners, community organizers, citizens, conservation ecologists and social scientists are saying and doing about the nature of cities.
