Rita Leduc
Rutgers / Oika / Groundwork Artist
New York
Hi! I am an interdisciplinary artist whose creative practice absorbs insights from nature-grounded research and applies them to novel endeavors on human and social scales. Ultimately, my work - be it in a forest, classroom, studio, meeting, workshop, or retreat - uses participation to activate otherwise unforeseen pathways and potentials.
Many of my current endeavors are part of Oika, a project that exists at the confluence of creativity, science, cosmic evolution, cognition, + spirituality. This includes Extending Ecology, an ongoing collaboration with ecologist and cultural communicator Dr. Rich Blundell and the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest (NH, USA). I also run a process-based creative direction platform, GROUNDWORK, with my colleague, movement and emotion expert Chris Bodwitch. I am a member of The Place Collective and faculty at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University where I teach in their new Creative Expression and the Environment program.
