Mr. Franklin Kirimi is a Landscape Architect, who has dedicated the last 5 years to the contextualization and sustainability of nature-based solutions (NBS) in urban informal settlements and in the urban context of sub-Saharan African cities. With a keen focus on overcoming challenges in building economic sustainability, Franklin delves into the complexities of integrating Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) and NBS within informal neighborhoods, particularly addressing issues related to the waste water management and environmental remediation.

Navigating the intricacies of large-scale inclusion, Franklin grapples with the question of how to effectively promote and maintain Water and Sanitation for Urban Poor (WSUP) and NBS within the constraints posed by the informal settlement context. This thoughtful consideration extends to exploring the role of community-led participatory land-use planning as a key strategy to overcome obstacles and foster sustainable development.

Recognizing the urgent need for adaptation and resilience to climate change, he continually pushes boundaries, seeking innovative approaches to address the unique challenges faced by these cities.

This leadership aims to seamlessly integrate green infrastructure and ecosystem-based approaches, paving the way for sustainable, inclusive, and just cities. Through his dedication and expertise, the path to resilient
